Small Data, Big Improvement
The Aionics platform’s solid superionic conductor model has enabled discovery of more than a dozen new solid electrolyte materials for Li-ion batteries, according to studies in the scientific literature — and many more in our customers’ proprietary research efforts. This approach was initially developed by Aionics Founder Dr. Austin Sendek’s in his Ph.D. research at Stanford University, and has since been expanded by Aionics and other academic groups. Based on a training set of only 40 examples, Dr. Sendek and colleagues discovered a model capable of identifying new superionic conductor materials three times more effectively than guesswork and orders of magnitude faster than experiments or simulations.
